I had that experience once at a North Korean restaurant in Beijing (not kidding). It was probably the singlemost disturbing food experience I've ever had. Of course it makes for a great story, but it's an experience I never want to have again!
No wonder you stick to bacon. :) That's definitely something I can live without. North Korean in Beijing? Interesting.
